Almería, 2012
Reflect, project, celebrate.
Transite was a competition series held in the mid 2000s. It aimed at producing temporary interventions in certain public spaces of the capital cities of the eight Andalusian provinces. In 2006, we participated in the call organized for the city of Almería. For that edition, the intervention had to take place on a huge and very visible party wall of a building facing the square at the end of the Obispo Orbera Rambla. Our response was to place a false, monumental mirror that, during the day, would reflect the atmosphere and everyday life of the city, while at night, it would become a screen upon which to project what was happening on the square bellow, as well as what was going on at the other, seven locations throughout Andalusia. Our approach was festive: the point was to turn the everyday atmosphere of a town into something extraordinary and to underline the collective nature of the unique events that were taking place, at the same time, in the eight cities.
